Edit Microsoft Office files in Chrome and ChromeOS

I am so excited about this, I’ve actually pulled over and I’m posting it now. (hope the milk stays cold)

While we have always felt that Google Apps had some serious strengths, some documents just don’t convert well. And that’s a fact.

This is a big leap forward and a damn good example how cloud based platform can continue to move forward; easier and more elegantly than its on premise counterpart for certain applications and collaboration tools.

Google Apps users can now edit Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly from Google Drive, Gmail and the new Docs, Sheets and Slides home screens, without needing Microsoft Office. For ChromeOS users, there’s nothing to install, it just works. Chrome users for Mac and Windows can install the “Office Editing for Docs, Sheets & Slides” extension and you’re good to go.
